12 scholarships awarded by the AHFA Solutions Partnership Division

The American Home Furnishings Alliance’s Solutions Partner Supplier Division has awarded 12 scholarships to students whose parents are working full-time in the home furnishings industry.
The $2,500 award is for the 2022-23 school year.Eight of these scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic merit.Four were presented based on academic merit alone.It is the only scholarship program in the industry dedicated to helping industry workers students.
The scholarship fund is supported by the annual Solutions Partners Education Golf Tournament.The 31st annual tournament is scheduled for September 28, 2022 at Lake Hickory Country Club in Hickory, NC.For more information about the tournament, visit www.ahfa.us/events.
The 2022 scholarship recipients are: Taylor Cotie, Greensboro, NC, daughter of Legacy Classic Furniture employee Tina Hinshaw; Madeline de la Parra, Sherman, Conn., daughter of Mary de la Parra, employee of Ethan Allen; Kirsten Harrison, daughter of Morganton, NC, Bobby Harrison, employee of Motioncraft by Sherrill; Valeria Hernandez-Pena, Newton, NC, daughter of Enrique Hernandez Del-Rio, employee of Bassett Furniture; Isabella Holloway, Bethlehem, NC, Calvin Trull daughter of McCreary Modern, Emma Lail, Hickory, N.C., daughter of Lee Industries employee Eric Lail.
Also, Kate Miller, Greensboro, NC, daughter of Bradley Miller, employee of Hooker Furniture; Macy Penland, Connelly Springs, NC, daughter of Junior Penland, employee of Century Furniture; Kathryn Perry , Newton, NC, daughter of Wallace Perry, employee of Hanes Inds; Gabriela Rosales Moreno, Galax, Va., daughter of Vanguard employee Maria Espinoza; Abigail Strickland, Winston-Salem, NC, daughter of Culp employee David Strickland; and Tammy A. Washington, Tupelo, Mississippi, daughter of Lioness Hughes, HM Richards.
Students can reapply for the scholarship each year at school, provided the parent remains employed full-time at a company that is a member of the American Home Furnishings Alliance.
Since the first scholarships were awarded in 2000, 160 checks have been issued to 136 different students.In total, 61 AHFA member companies have one employee and one student awarded.The application deadline is January 31 each year, and awards are announced in the spring of the following academic year.(Information and applications are available here: https://www.ahfa.us/member-resources/scholarship-program.)
