A portable laptop desk seems like a great travel companion, but it ends up being impractical to carry around. Ergonomically, it’s a lot better than trying to balance your laptop on your lap while working on a hotel bed or a chair in an airport terminal. But it’s just a clumsy thing to worry about when you already have luggage or a briefcase. The iSwift M is set to change that with an ultra-thin and lightweight design so flat you’ll almost forget it.
iSwift M is an improvement on its creator’s earlier product, iSwift Pi. Both are aimed at digital nomads who prefer to work in less traditional places, such as sun loungers on the beach. The original weighs 2.5 pounds, is made of durable plastic and can be used in a variety of positions. Since its debut in 2021, it has been a huge success with nearly $1 million in sales. The designers took feedback and made some changes to their design, culminating in the release of the iSwift M. The new version weighs just over a pound, is just 6mm thick, deforms in a second, and is available in a variety of sizes.
While most portable laptop desks have foldable legs, iSwift has a unique origami shape with built-in triangular legs. It can be used horizontally as a cushion under a computer, with two legs up as a traditional laptop desk, or with one leg upside down as a tablet stand. Magnets hidden in the material hold the legs in place while you work. With the Pi, you can turn one leg at a time. M speeds up the process. The legs are attached in the center, so with one movement of the hand the entire table snaps into place.
When folded, the iSwift M laptop desk is thin enough to easily fit in a laptop bag next to your computer. It takes up so little weight and space that it is quite possible to take it with you. The designer even claims that you can tuck it under your pillow and sleep on it, but you still won’t notice it. However, it can hold over 11 pounds (5kg), which is way more than most people’s computers, phones, and coffees combined.
The designer explained: “Inspired by the Copenhagen trend, we chose wool felt as the material. This material is also environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Thanks to its unique high-temperature pressing technology, the iSwift M becomes a work of art. with a slim profile, it looks like a second skin for your office equipment.”

The number of new COVID-19 cases more than doubled in one day, from 4,700 on Monday to 11,700 on Tuesday, and XBB is almost certainly the cause. The same sub-variant has just appeared in Hong Kong. XBB, a highly mutated descendant of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that caused a record wave of infections starting about a year ago, is in its infancy.

This time last year it was all about the micro-mini. Miu Miu Dangerous shorts are all the rage right now. Embossed leather versions, like rubber tire belts, appeared on the runways of Diesel designer Glenn Martens, and belted styles from It-Girl brands like Danielle Guizio and Miaou dominated social media. Now the fashion world seems to be taking notice of another exaggerated length from the Spring/Summer 2023 collection – the maxi skirt – confirming that the industry thrives on opposites.
