The Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini Gen 8 is a mini PC that looks great on your desk.

Not everyone needs a portable computer like a laptop, but not everyone needs a bulky tower on or under a desk. The Apple Mac Mini has long proven that there is a lucrative market for small boxed computers that can still deliver some tower desktop performance while leaving enough room to move around your desktop or even around the house. Mini PCs have gotten a bit more popular in recent years, but most of them are literally black boxes that seem to be designed to hide from view. While this helps keep things tidy and tidy, it can also be a missed opportunity to make a positive visual impact on your desk. On the contrary, the new Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini Gen 8 is designed to be seen and looks stylish on any desk, lying or standing.
Mini PCs like the Mac Mini have almost the same problem as laptops: how much power they can pack into a small box. Their size issue may be even bigger, as they have no excuse for having to include a keyboard and monitor to account for the size. Luckily, technology has advanced to the point that even a box that fits in your hand has enough power to fit a high-end laptop but can connect to it with more flexibility.
For example, the eighth generation IdeaCentre Mini supports processors up to the next generation Intel Core i7, which is enough for such a small box. It has two memory slots, so you can have up to 16GB of RAM if needed. You can also cram in up to 1TB of storage, but you can always easily plug in an external hard drive to expand that space. There is a built-in power supply unit (PSU) in the box, which means there is no big black ball hanging from the power cord. All this power is cooled by two swirl fans inside, allowing it to run at maximum power without posing a safety hazard.
However, what really sets the upcoming Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini Gen 8 apart is its design. Even eschewing the stereotypical black, this white box looks classy and aesthetically pleasing, with an emphasis on both looks and performance. The top of the box has dramatic sloping ribs, while rounded corners soften the look of ice technology. While it’s primarily intended to be placed horizontally, it can also be laid on its side to save space without looking clunky or unattractive.
Lenovo doesn’t mention the mini PC’s use of recycled materials, but as a desktop PC, it inherently has the advantage that its modular components last longer. Plus, the beautiful chassis is easy to open, so you can upgrade or replace components effortlessly. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini Gen 8 will be available in the second quarter of 2023 for $649.99.
